Creating Your First Strategy

This tutorial walks you through creating a simple RSI-based mean reversion strategy.

The Strategy

Concept: Buy BTC when it's oversold (RSI < 30) and sell when overbought (RSI > 70).

  • Entry: RSI(14) crosses below 30

  • Exit: RSI(14) crosses above 70, OR take profit at 5%, OR stop loss at 2%

  • Risk: 2% of portfolio per trade, max 5x leverage

Step-by-Step

Step 1: Navigate to Strategy Builder

Go to Strategies from the sidebar, then click Create New Strategy.

Step 2: Basic Configuration

Fill in the strategy basics:

Field
Value

Name

RSI Mean Reversion

Symbol

BTC

Direction

Long

Timeframe

1h (or your preferred timeframe)

Step 3: Define Entry Conditions

Click Add Entry Condition and configure:

Condition 1:

  • Indicator: RSI

  • Period: 14

  • Operator: Less Than

  • Value: 30

This means: "Enter a long position when the 14-period RSI drops below 30."

Step 4: Define Exit Conditions

Click Add Exit Condition and configure:

Condition 1: RSI Overbought

  • Indicator: RSI

  • Period: 14

  • Operator: Greater Than

  • Value: 70

Condition 2: Take Profit

  • Type: Take Profit

  • Value: 5%

Condition 3: Stop Loss

  • Type: Stop Loss

  • Value: 2%

Exit conditions use OR logic by default — any condition being true will close the position.

Step 5: Set Risk Parameters

Step 6: Select Wallet

Choose which connected wallet to use for this strategy's trades.

Step 7: Review & Save

Review all settings and click Create Strategy. The strategy is created in inactive state.

Step 8: Backtest First!

Before activating, always backtest your strategy:

  1. Go to the strategy detail page

  2. Click Backtest

  3. Select a date range (e.g., last 3 months)

  4. Review the results (see Backtesting Guide)

Step 9: Activate

Once satisfied with backtest results:

  1. Go to Strategies page

  2. Toggle the strategy to Active

  3. HyperSync will start checking your conditions every 60 seconds

What Happens After Activation

Once active, HyperSync checks your conditions every 60 seconds:

  • RSI below 30? No — do nothing, check again in 60 seconds

  • RSI below 30? Yes — prepare a buy order, validate through the Risk Engine, and execute on Hyperliquid

If the Risk Engine blocks the trade (e.g., insufficient margin), it's logged in the Risk Dashboard so you can see why.

Monitoring Your Strategy

After activation, monitor performance on the strategy detail page:

  • Status: Active/Inactive

  • Last Evaluated: When the strategy was last checked

  • Open Positions: Current positions opened by this strategy

  • Trade History: All trades executed by this strategy

  • PnL: Running profit/loss

Tips for Your First Strategy

  1. Start simple — One or two conditions is enough

  2. Use testnet — Practice with fake money first

  3. Always set a stop loss — Protect against unexpected moves

  4. Backtest extensively — Test across different market conditions

  5. Start with small position sizes — 1-2% risk per trade

  6. Monitor daily — Check for unexpected behavior
